Carolyn Shiels is the Principal Solicitor of Shiels Legal.
She has had over 27 years in prosecuting criminal matters for both the NSW Police Force and 14 years with the Office of the Department of Public Prosecutions. Since establishing her own practice, Family Law has been a large part of her interest and work. She is well equipped to deal with any Criminal, Traffic, or Family or Personal Violence matter, and her experience in advocacy is extensive and renowned.
Carolyn has a personal commitment to providing assistance to those affected by matters within the Family Court. This extends further into Child Support reviews and applications. As a parent who has personally experienced the cost, time, disruptions to careers, health and financial security that Family Court actions cause, Carolyn will ensure a cost-effective and compassionate approach to Family Court litigation.
Georgia is a Law Clerk and Law Student at Shiels Legal.
She is currently studying a Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Criminology at Western Sydney University. She is passionate about social justice issues and has developed a keen interest in the areas of Criminal Law, Family Law, and Juvenile Justice.
Georgia’s studies in Criminology has helped to develop her communication and research skills and provided her with relevant theoretical and contemporary knowledge of crime, social welfare, juvenile and criminal justice issues. This knowledge, coupled with her studies in Law, has provided Georgia with a well-rounded perspective of crime and the law that she aims to apply in her work upon future admission to practice.
Kylie is an administrative assistant who is in charge of the behind-the-scenes work that goes on at Shiels Legal.
Kylie has a strong background in administration, specialising in receptionist and secretarial roles in the Legal industry. She has completed an executive business diploma at June Dally Watkins Business Finishing School which provided her with the skills to undertake her position at our firm.
Her interests include working with horses and she has a passion for the rural way of life. She has previously worked at local ranches and law firms which have provided her with many years of valuable experience.
Kylie has an excellent phone manner and the ability to work well under pressure, multitask and the pride she takes in her work does not go unnoticed by our other team members. She works hard to ensure that our practice remains neat, tidy and efficient, and assists in the organisation of paperwork, documents, appointments, phone calls and emails.
